Azalea Festival-Nezu shrine, Tokyo’s most beautiful shrine-

I visited an azalea festival of Nezu Shrine, which is said to be the most beautiful shrine in Tokyo. The origin of the azaleas in this garden began when the 6th Tokugawa Shogun Tokugawa Tsunashige planted 350 years ago, and now about 3,000 azaleas of 100 varieties have been planted, making it a spring tradition in Bunkyo city. The garden created in the natural slope is wonderful, and I was able to enjoy the wonderful combination of flower colors. Marvelous Wisteria, 1,200years old wisteria

I visited Tokaen for enjoying the wisteria of Ushijima, nearing full bloom. Let’s enjoy flower of wisteria! A wisteria in Ushijima is more than 1200 years old. It is said that it is the oldest wisteria in Japan. It is designated as a natural treasure and the Special Natural Protected Tree. The wisteria is also called nine-syaku (It is about 2m70cm in the old unit of length in Japan) wisteria and it was recorded almost 3-meter- long bunch of flowers in Meiji era. The Miharu Takizakura – Cascading waterfall cherry flowers-

The Miharu Takizakura is one of the most famous cherry blossom trees in Japan, known as one of the three giant cherry trees of Japan. Takizakura belongs a group called Benisidare (Cerasus spachiana var. pendula ‘Itosakura’). The tree is called Miharu Takizakura since growing in Taki area in Miharu town in Fukushima Prefecture. Also, Taki in Japanese means waterfall, reflecting figure of tree’s wide drooping branches around 20 meters like a cascading waterfall. Omuro-zakura in Ninna-ji temple

Ninna-ji Temple was founded by Emperor Uda in the 4th year of Ninna (888), and has been proud of its high prestige as a monzeki temple (a temple where the head priest is a member of the imperial family, mainly retired Emperor or Emperor Emeritus). Yamataka Jindai Zakura is estimated around 2,000 years old and the oldest cherry tree in Japan. The tree is growing in precincts of Jissoji Temple in Hokuto city, Yamanashi prefecture. This tree is recognized as one of the “Three Great Sakura Trees” of Japan, and was designated the country’s first-ever Natural Monument as a cherry tree.
